I received my BFA in Painting and Printmaking from the University of South Carolina. Subsequently, employed by the Art Department of Riverbanks Zoo, I learned how creativity could effectively merge with commerce through visual communication. These opportunities lead to a rewarding career in Hollywood, working in Movie Advertising Print Production and Graphic Design.
Liberated after four decades in print advertising, producing posters, lobby displays, ads and billboards for Major Motion Pictures, I've been making paintings based on scraps from those kinds of presentations. Fragments of printed paper become the working material for collaged and painted compositions: abstractions and landscapes.
nfs alludes to transforming materials that no longer serve their originally intended purpose: that of selling the consumer a ticket, a product or an experience.
